Aloha Gilad! I’ve been a "Bodies in Motion" fan for decades, but lately, I find myself struggling with my mindset. Everywhere I look, the news, the doctor's office, even my friends, the message is that after 70, it’s all downhill. I want to stay active, but sometimes I feel like I’m just fighting the inevitable. Is there any actual proof that staying positive makes a physical difference, or is it just wishful thinking? — Margaret R., Scottsdale

Aloha Margaret! You have no idea how timely your question is. In fact, I talk about a brand-new study from Yale in this very newsletter (see below) that addresses exactly what you're feeling!

The short answer is: It is definitely not just wishful thinking. Scientists found that having a positive "Age Belief" actually causes measurable, physical improvements in your strength and brain health. When you tell yourself you are "falling apart," your body’s chemistry actually shifts toward decline. But when you view yourself as a capable athlete who is simply in a different season of training, your cells actually respond to that strength.

Margaret, don't let the "downhill" talk get into your spirit. You aren't fighting the inevitable; you are practicing for longevity. Next time you feel a bit stiff, don't say "I'm getting old." Say "My body is asking for movement." Your mindset is the most powerful piece of equipment in your home gym. Keep it sharp!

Keep those bodies in motion!

Quick Tip

💡 Quick Tip: The Mindset Mirror

The Hack: Tomorrow morning, look in the mirror and name one physical thing you are grateful for (e.g., "I am grateful for my strong legs that carry me").

Why it works: Positive self-affirmation reduces cortisol levels and reinforces the Age Beliefs that the Yale study highlighted. It sets your "biological clock" to a setting of growth rather than decline before you even leave the bathroom!

Aging Defined

Aging Redefined: The Power of Age Beliefs

Is your mind making your body older?

Aloha, Fitness Family!

We often talk about the how-to of fitness—the right way to squat, the best way to breathe, and the importance of consistency. But today, I want to talk about the why-to and, more importantly, the what-you-think.

A groundbreaking study released just this March from Yale University has revealed something that many of us in our fitness family have felt for years: Your attitude toward aging can actually change your biology.

The Science of Age Beliefs

The researchers found that individuals with a positive outlook on getting older don't just feel better mentally, they actually show measurable improvements in physical strength and cognitive sharpness.

In contrast, those who viewed aging as an inevitable decline were more likely to experience exactly that. In short: If you believe you are "over the hill," your body begins to act like it. But if you believe you are still an athlete in training, your cells listen.

Persistence Over Perfection

This fits perfectly with our philosophy here at Bodies in Motion. I’ve always told you that it’s not about having a "perfect" body; it’s about having a persistent spirit.

In 2026, we have more tools than ever to stay healthy, but the most powerful tool in your kit is your mindset. When you step onto the mat or follow along with a workout on the beach, you aren't just fighting "old age", you are celebrating your capability.

3 Ways to Shift Your Age Beliefs Today:

  1. Change Your Vocabulary: Instead of saying, "I'm too old for this," try saying, "I'm learning a new way to do this."

  2. Focus on "Can," Not "Could": Stop comparing what you can do today to what you could do 20 years ago. Focus on the strength you are building right now.

  3. Stay in the Family: Surround yourself with people who inspire you. That is why our community is so important. We prove to each other every day that the "golden years" are meant for motion, not for sitting on the sidelines.

Remember, aging isn't a loss of youth; it’s a new stage of power and opportunity. Let’s keep showing the world what "pro-longevity" really looks like.

Keep those bodies in motion!

FEATURED SUPPLEMENT

Gilad's Longevity Bundle

The Longevity Power Trio:

Why NMN, Resveratrol, and Berberine are the New Standard for Aging Gracefully

We are constantly exploring the latest science to help our community stay vibrant, energetic, and healthy well into their golden years.

1. NMN: Recharging Your Cellular Batteries

As we age, our levels of a critical molecule called NAD+ naturally decline. This is where NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) comes in.

  • The Mechanism: NMN acts as a direct precursor to NAD+, which is essential for mitochondrial function—the "powerhouses" of your cells.
  • The Benefit: By boosting NAD+, NMN supports cellular energy production and overall mitochondrial health, helping you feel more energized from the inside out.

2. Resveratrol: The Sirtuin Activator

Often associated with the benefits of red wine, Trans-Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant with targeted anti-aging properties.

  • The Mechanism: It is specifically known as a "sirtuin activator". Sirtuins are a family of proteins responsible for cellular health and DNA repair.
  • The Benefit: Beyond its antioxidant properties, it provides robust support for heart health and works synergistically with other longevity supplements.

3. Berberine: The Metabolic Master

While NMN and Resveratrol focus on energy and DNA, Berberine targets the metabolic pathways that often slow down as we get older.

  • The Mechanism: Berberine works primarily by activating an enzyme called AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase).
  • The Benefit: This activation helps improve glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. For those focused on maintaining healthy blood sugar levels and a lean metabolism, Berberine is a vital addition to the stack.

Why Take Them Together? (The Synergy)

The real magic happens when these three are combined. Scientific theory suggests a synergistic relationship between NMN and Resveratrol; while NMN provides the "fuel" (NAD+), Resveratrol acts as the "accelerator" for the sirtuin longevity genes.

Adding Berberine to this duo creates a comprehensive protocol. Its metabolic effects complement the cellular energy pathways of NMN and the protective qualities of Resveratrol, ensuring that your body is supported both at the energy and metabolic levels.

Getting the Dosage Right

Based on current research and common supplement facts, a balanced stack often includes:

  • Berberine: 800mg (typically 2 capsules).
  • NMN: 500mg.
  • Trans-Resveratrol: 600mg.

A Note on Safety

While this combination is promising for longevity, it is important to be aware of potential side effects and drug interactions. Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting a new supplement regimen, especially if you are taking medications for blood sugar or heart health.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup precooked quinoa (or leftover)

  • 3 oz smoked salmon, flaked

  • 1/2 avocado, sliced

  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots

  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds (for crunch and zinc)

  • Dressing: Mix 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard.

Instructions:

  1. Warm & Assemble: Microwave the quinoa for 60 seconds. Place in a bowl.

  2. Toppings: Layer the salmon, avocado, carrots, and pumpkin seeds on top.

  3. Finish: Drizzle with the simple dressing.

Recipe 2: The Persistence Pesto Sheet Pan

The ultimate easy-cleanup functional dinner.

Subject: 🥦 Maximize your time, maximize your health.

In our fitness family, we value efficiency. A sheet pan dinner is the "Express Workout" of cooking. It’s persistent (delivering great results every time) without demanding perfection (just chop and roast!).

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken thighs, skin-on (for flavor and satisfying healthy fats)

  • 1 bunch asparagus, woody ends trimmed

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes

  • Marinade: 1/4 cup prepared pesto, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp garlic powder.

Instructions:

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the chicken, asparagus, and tomatoes in a large bowl with the pesto marinade.

  2. Spread: Arrange everything in a single layer on a large, parchment-lined sheet pan.

  3. Cook: Roast for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.

Bodies in Motion Benefit: Asparagus is a natural diuretic and high in prebiotics for gut health. Tomatoes, when roasted, release lycopene, a powerful anti-inflammatory that supports heart and joint health—keeping those "Bodies in Motion"!

Recipe 3: The Lord of the Abs Longevity Tacos

Core-strengthening nutrition in 15 minutes.

  1. Cook the Protein: In a skillet, brown the ground turkey. Drain excess fat. Add the taco seasoning and water as directed on the packet, simmer for 5 minutes.

  2. Prep the Slaw: While the meat simmers, mix the Quick Slaw ingredients.

  3. Serve: Warm the tortillas, fill with turkey, and top generously with the slaw and your favorite toppings.
